Veterinary surgery can be a stressful experience for both the pet and its owner. However, after the surgery, the pet's difficulties might not be completely over. The process of healing and recovery takes time, and it’s important to monitor the pet carefully to make sure healing is going smoothly.
There are some signs to watch for that may be cause for concern. In particular, owners should monitor dripping or seepage from the wound at the site of the incision. If this seepage is continuous, or if blood seeps intermittently from the wound for more than a day after the surgery, the pet may need further medical attention. Additionally, swelling, redness, unpleasant smells, or discharge from the wound are concerning. If you notice any of these signs, it’s recommended that you contact a veterinarian.
